A south Forsyth man recently won nearly $1 million from the Georgia Lottery.

The winning numbers for a ticket purchase at Shell Food Mart at 2310 Ronald Reagan Boulevard were selected for the July 30 Fantasy 5 drawing for a jackpot worth $962,742.

“He’s one of our regular customers,” said employee Yatan Patel. “He’s doing good, but he’s still going to work.”

The winner has been identified and is part of public record but did not respond to a request for comment from Forsyth County News.

Patel said the ticket was the most ever won from the store but was also the second six-figure jackpot in less than a year.

“The last one we sold in September, and it was $800,000,” Patel said. “This one was the biggest.”

The store now has a sign hanging near the counter showing how much was won.

Patel said the store did not receive any money for selling the ticket but that he is hopeful more winners will come in.

“It’s still OK,” Patel said. “We’ll keep selling.”
