The Hall County Sheriff's Office has identified a woman whose body was recovered from Lake Lanier on Friday morning.

According to a sheriff's office press release, Tonja Hall, 53, of McDonough in Henry County was found in the lake near the Lake Lanier Islands golf course in south Hall County at about 10:45 a.m. Friday.

"The preliminary investigation indicated the body hadn’t been in the water for long," the release stated. "An employee of the resort had noticed the woman’s car as early as 6 a.m. Friday, in the same spot deputies found it."

The release states that the woman's belongings were found a short distance away inside her parked car.

The cause of death is pending further investigation, but so far there are no indications of foul play, the release states.
