National recognition for Sheriffs Office is well deserved

Forsyth County News
Congratulations to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office for having received the Flagship Award from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies.

They are deserving of this level of recognition and we should all be proud of this department. When we moved to Cumming from Charlotte in 1992, the Sheriff’s Office was low-class, backward, and extremely political — just like the county commission at that time (and for many more years).

That condition has changed dramatically at the Sheriff’s Office since Ted Paxton was elected, and I have seen many positive changes that I hope will continue.

I would offer two suggestions to Sheriff Paxton for the future: get rid of the obese officers who look like they could hardly walk fast, let alone catch a criminal; and institute a periodic, involuntary urine sampling program for steroids testing of his officers.

I believe that those additional changes would further strengthen my confidence in this fine department and that of the other citizens of this county.
