Would someone please set me straight on the Fair Tax. Every one of our new (and old) congressmen promised to promote the Fair Tax. Many people I speak with favor it. However, I am having trouble finding any redeeming features of this tax plan what so ever.

Is there some mystic here that I am missing? There seems to be the idea that if businesses do not pay taxes, somehow they will buy consumer goods that were made in the USA. There also seems to be the idea that the poor and Hispanic community can raise billions with the Fair Tax and the middle class will save money. Show me how this can work.

My guess is that this is a dodge by our congressmen to avoid facing the fact that our country is going broke and they are too concerned with getting re-elected to pay attention to our declining economy or our unbalanced budget.
