Here's a look at the county's top softball players from 2019.

Player of the Year

Makenna Segal, South Forsyth

Reigning Forsyth County News Player of the Year was even better as a junior, hitting .585 and collecting 43 walks, good for an astounding 1.710 OPS. 

Pitcher of the Year

Bailey McCachren, Forsyth Central

Reigning Forsyth County News Pitcher of the Year posted a microscopic 1.85 ERA, striking out 133 across 109 2/3 innings. 

Coach of the Year:

Jim Cahill, North Forsyth

Raiders coach led North Forsyth to Columbus for the first time since 2006.

First team:

Infield — Makenna Segal, South Forsyth

Led War Eagles in home runs (7), batting average (.585), on-base percentage (.722), runs (36), walks (43), hits (48) and doubles (12). 

Infield — Mallorie Black, North Forsyth

Senior was Region 5-7A Offensive Player of the Year, hitting .519 and reaching base at a 58 percent clip. Led the Raiders with 10 home runs, 63 RBIs and 21 walks. 

Infield — Brooke Miller, Lambert

Senior hit .342 with a team-high nine doubles, adding 64 strikeouts in 49 2/3 innings from the pitcher's circle. 

Infield — Ashleigh Grace, North Forsyth

Junior was Region 5-7A Player of the Year and tied for team lead with 30 stolen bases, hitting .521 and collecting 50 hits. 

Infield — Jessie DeNardo, Denmark

Sophomore drove in a team-high 39 runs while hitting .423. Struck out just six times in 97 plate appearances.

Outfield — Grace Mangan, West Forsyth

Sophomore was Region 5-7A Defensive Player of the Year and hit .429 for the Wolverines. Mangan scored 28 runs and swiped 22 bases. 

Outfield — Lindsey Nelson, Lambert

Senior led the Longhorns in batting average (.369), hits (31), triples (4), runs scored (24), walks (12) and stolen bases (18). 

Outfield — McKayla Cothran, North Forsyth

Junior tied for team lead with 30 stolen bases and hit .478. Was second on team in hits (54) and runs scored (44). 

Pitcher — Bailey McCachren, Forsyth Central

Senior was dominant in the pitcher's circle but also led the team with 21 RBIs and three home runs, compiling a .328 batting average for the Bulldogs. 

Pitcher — Hannah Marchman, South Forsyth

Junior went 10-9 with a 3.56 ERA for War Eagles team that advanced to second round of playoffs.

Utility — Hailey Mize, North Forsyth

Junior contributed at the plate and in the circle, hitting .429 with seven home runs while posting a 12-1 record with a 2.55 ERA.

Second team:

Infield — Isabel Hui, South Forsyth

Senior hit .343 and led the War Eagles with 28 RBIs.

Infield — Abby Martin, North Forsyth

Senior hit .400, hitting three home runs and scoring 32 runs. 

Infield — Sydney Moroney, Forsyth Central

Senior hit .298 with a triple for the Bulldogs.

Infield — Anna Jackson, Lambert

Senior drove in a team-high 21 RBIs and three home runs, hitting .337 for the Longhorns. 

Infield — Caraline Bryant, Forsyth Central

Senior finished with a team-high .343 batting average and nine RBIs. 

Outfield — Morgan Kilmer, Denmark

Led the Danes with 39 runs scored while hitting .383.

Outfield — Adaline Nix, North Forsyth

Junior posted a .355 batting average and swiped 21 bases.

Outfield — Kennedy Ariail, South Forsyth

Freshman hit .229 with 10 RBIs and scored 13 runs. Posted a .977 fielding percentage on defense, committing just two errors in 87 chances. 

Pitcher — Kyleigh Sanders, North Forsyth

Senior went 12-3 with a 2.55 ERA, striking out 98 in 82 1/3 innings.

Pitcher — Taylor Gajdik, Denmark

Led team with .443 batting average while collecting 26 RBIs and scoring 15 runs.

Utility — Allie Sewell, Lambert

Senior hit .333 with two home runs and 17 RBIs. 

Honorable mention:

Kayla Smith, Denmark

Posted a .382 batting average, hitting one home run and driving in 26.

Lauren Wall, Forsyth Central

Senior hit .320 with 11 RBIs and a team-high two triples. 

Ansley Clark, Forsyth Central

Senior posted a .338 batting average and stole a team-high 14 bases. 

Courtney Sauer, Lambert

Freshman compiled a 3.24 ERA and 5-5 record over 45 1/3 innings for the Longhorns, finishing with a .321 batting average and two triples.

Lauren Fields, North Forsyth

Sophomore went .397 at the plate, stealing 21 bases and scoring 30 runs. 

Ashley Chu, South Forsyth

Sophomore hit .337 from the top of the War Eagles' offense, collecting 33 singles. 

Katie Traynor, South Forsyth

Junior hit .221 and drove in 23 runs while finishing with a 2.73 ERA and 3-6 record in the pitcher's circle, adding one save.

Jenna Harris, West Forsyth

Senior posted a .306 batting average and led the team with 20 RBIs and five doubles.

Emily Brown, West Forsyth

Freshman hit .288 while scoring 12 times and driving in 10 runs.
