PREP ROUNDUP: Central wrestling, boys basketball earn weekend wins

The North Forsyth basketball program took two losses to Roswell on Saturday, with the boys falling 57-45 and the girls losing 55-52. North’s girls (11-4) kept their game close throughout, with the lead changing multiple times throughout the first half. Roswell padded its lead in the third, and despite a Lily Bales free throw drawing the Raiders to within three with 59 seconds to play, the Hornets hung on for the victory.

Forsyth Central earned a split against Pickens County, with the boys securing an 81-57 win and the girls falling just short, 46-44. The boys’ win was their third of the season.

Pinecrest’s boys basketball team traveled to Mount Bethel Christian Academy on Saturday and lost its second straight game, losing 56-47.

South Forsyth competed at the Wolverine Duals at Union Grove High School on Saturday. The War Eagles lost to Social Circle and then rattled off four consecutive wins against Johns Creek (63-9), Whitewater (51-27), Fannin County (48-24) and Carrollton (39-30).

Central’s squad performed well at the Coach Kelly Duals in Florida, with Abraham Perez, Sam Aldrich and Keaton Platzke all finishing the tournament undefeated at 8-0. Perez earned the event’s most outstanding wrestler award after beating two ranked Florida wrestlers and a state runner-up.
