Forsyth Central 7, Riverwood 3

ATLANTA – Taylor Bauman had a triple and three RBI as the Bulldogs got a Region 7-AAAAA, Div. B victory Monday on the road.

Parker Morrison got the win for No. 9-ranked Central (9-3, 6-1), allowing three runs on five hits while striking out nine in seven innings.

Hunter Bauman added a double and three RBI for the Bulldogs.

Horizon Christian 12, Lanier Christian 6

A seven-run explosion in the fifth inning carried the Warriors to a win Monday.

Micah Ford and Jacob Grinstead each had two-run singles for Horizon (2-1, 2-0).

Grinstead got the win on the mound, allowing six runs on four hits and three walks while striking out 10 in 4 2/3 innings.

North Forsyth 16, Habersham Central 11

Bailey Gerstner went 4-for-5 with five RBI as North pounded its way to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Monday at home.

Caelen Thomas got the win on the mound for North (9-4, 5-2), allowing one earned run in 4 1/3 innings of relief with five strikeouts.

Tyler Koch went 3-for-5, Tyler Sheley added two hits and three RBI and Trevor Rhys had two hits as North came back from down 9-4 to score six runs in the bottom of the third and five in the bottom of the fifth.

Johns Creek 12, South Forsyth 4

Alec Kliphouse went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI but it wasn’t enough as the War Eagles dropped a Region 6-AAAAAA game Monday at home.

Ben Ferrer suffered the loss for South (8-5, 3-4), allowing five runs (three earned) on eight hits and three walks while striking out three in 5 2/3 innings.

Connor McKnight added two hits for the War Eagles, Brett Graczyk had a hit, two runs and three walks and Bradley Prince Jr. had two runs and a stolen base.


Lambert boys win Best Ball Challenge

BUFORD – Lambert won the Buford Best Ball Challenge on Saturday over 22 teams shooting 20-under 196.

Brett Barron and Kevin Stine led the Longhorns with an 8-under 64, while two other Lambert team pairs finished tied for second at 6-under.

It was an impressive day overall for Forsyth County boys golf teams at the event. South finished fourth shooting even par (216) as a team, led by Adam Gracyalny and Judson Meadows (70). The War Eagles’ pairs of John Lichtenwalner and Barrett Hopper and Josh Sargent and Cameron Stokes both finished 1-over.

West, meanwhile, finished one shot behind South to place fifth as a team, led by Austin Amburgy and Drew Ridings’ 2-under 70. Austin Jaynes and Will Payne finished 1-over and Connor Pollman and Ryan Pollman shot a 2-over 74.

North shot 233 as a team, led by Bo Branes and Griffin Orzech’s 1-under 71.


Lambert 14, Lovett 2

MARIETTA – Jonny DiVirgilio had four goals and the Longhorns cruised to a non-area victory Saturday at Pope in the AJO4LAX festival.

Matt O’Rourk added three goals and an assist for Lambert (9-0, 4-0 3-AAAAAA), while Grant Plaugher had two goals, Eric Overbay and Hunter Clem had a goal and an assist each.

Cameron Barnes, Ryan Overbay and Alex Walker each scored a goal, and Peyton Miller and Bradley Wehman each had an assist.

Trey Arnold led Lambert in faceoff wins and groundballs, Taylor Brinkerhoff and Chris Price each had two takeaways and goalie Ben Stump made four saves.

South Forsyth 17, Fellowship Christian 10

ROSWELL – Will Wykoff had four goals as the War Eagles cruised to a non-area victory Monday on the road.

Andrew Lempner, Kyle Frederiksen and Drew Thomas had added three goals apiece for South (4-6, 0-3 3-AAAAAA).

Max Kane had two goals, and Brett Crumley and Kyle Guenther each scored one goal.


Pace Academy 11, Forsyth Central 10

ATLANTA – The Lady Bulldogs couldn’t overcome a four-goal first half deficit in a non-area loss Saturday on the road.

Central dropped to 2-6 overall.

Lambert 14, Kennesaw Mountain 13

KENNESAW – Jenna Humphries’s goal with 7 seconds left secured a non-area victory Saturday on the road.

Humphries finished with three goals for Lambert (6-2, 1-1 3-AAAAAA), which extended its winning streak to five.

Peyton Smith had three goals, four assists and six draw controls, while Ali Wilson added three goals and an assist.

West Forsyth 20, Alpharetta 10

ALPHARETTA – Madison Mueller had five goals and four assists and the Lady Wolverines cruised to an Area 3-AAAAAA victory Monday on the road.

Sarah Grady and Kelly Guthrie each added five goals apiece for West (8-1, 3-1), while Lauren Doherty had two goals.

Allie Fagg had a goal to go along with seven groundballs, Ella Madson and Kate Pulliam scored a goal apiece and Jillian White added an assist.


Lambert impresses at Coaches Invitational

ATLANTA – The Lady Longhorns’ 1,600-meter relay team placed second at the Coaches Invitational at Lakewood Stadium on Saturday.

Lambert’s girls relay team of Amanda Clarke, Dominiq Delisser, Ryann Dickerson and Ashley Johnson ran a time of 3 minutes 58 seconds, just three second behind first place Parkview.

The Lady Longhorns also had strong performances from Brianna O’Neal in the 3,200 (second, 11:50) and Delisser in the 400 (fourth, 57.93).

Meanwhile, Jonathan Schwind highlighted the boys team with a first place finish in the 1,600 in 4:12. Schwind is currently ranked second in the nation.
