Marissa Guimbarda hit and pitched the Lady Longhorns a non-region victory Monday at home in their season-opener.
Guimbarda got the win on the mound for Lambert (1-0), and also went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI.
Skylar Aledia added an RBI double.
North Forsyth 9, North Hall 1
DAHLONEGA – MacKenzie Marvin pitched four shutout innings for the Lady Raiders in a non-region game Monday at the University of North Georgia.
Marvin, pitching in place of regular starter Sara King who was out sick, allowed no earned runs on four hits over four innings.
Mallorie Black and Morgan Franklin each went 1-for-2 with two RBI for North (1-0).
Buford 3, South Forsyth 1
BUFORD – Kelley Bagarose was 1-3 with a home run and RBI but it wasn’t enough as the Lady War Eagles dropped a non-region game Monday on the road.
Katherine Huey suffered the loss despite a solid outing for South, allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out four in five innings.
Emily Harris was 2-for-4.
The loss followed big wins against Gwinnett County teams Mill Creek (5-4 in eight innings) and Brookwood (3-0) on Saturday.
Lauren Baccari had the highlight, pitching a complete-game shutout against Brookwood. Baccari didn’t allow a hit until the seventh inning and struck out five.
West Forsyth 13, Woodstock 3
West Forsyth 10, Collins Hill 5
SUWANEE – Bailley Concatto went 5-7 with a triple and five runs scored as the Lady Wolverines swept a doubleheader of non-region games Saturday on the road.
Hannah Guthrie got the win in both for West (2-1).
Against Woodstock, Lauren Crowe shined going 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI. Kelsey Schell and Christie Carpenter each went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Ashley Schell was 2-for-4 with a RBI and Alana Frye added two hits.
Against Collins Hill, the Lady Wolverines came back from down 5-2 in sixth thanks in part to Frye’s go-ahead two-run double. Gracie Martin was 2-for-4 with a double and RBI, and Carlie Began added two hits.
Lambert shines at Sequoyah Classic
CANTON – The Lady Longhorns went 4-1 at the Sequoyah Classic this past Saturday.
Lambert defeated Northview (25-6, 25-15), Houston County (25-3, 25-16), Woodstock (25-19, 22-25, 20-18) and Pope (25-22, 25-20) and lost to Etowah (19-25), 25-22, 12-15).
Kendal Barrett led the way with 88 assists during the event to go along with 11 kills and seven aces. Madeleine Bertz had a team-high 31 kills, while Kailin Taggart added 22 kills. Jordyn Moellering led Lambert with 43 digs.
