PREP ROUNDUP: Lambert softball opens with dominating region win

Marissa Guimbarda pitched a shutout and the Lambert softball team got its season off to a strong start with a 15-0 victory against Alpharetta in a Region 6-AAAAAA game Tuesday at home.

Guimbarda got the win for the Lady Longhorns (1-0, 1-0) by allowing just three hits over four innings.

Cambridge 8, Forsyth Central 0

MILTON – Freshman Grace Kiser went 1-for-2 but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Bulldogs dropped a Region 7-AAAAA, Div. B game Tuesday on the road.

Hannah Carpenter also went 1-for-2 for Central (0-1, 0-1).

Johns Creek 6, North Forsyth 5

JOHNS CREEK – Bella Caracciolo had a triple and two RBIs but the Lady Raiders lost a Region 6-AAAAAA game on the road Tuesday.

Johns Creek scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning for a walk-off victory, handing North (3-1, 0-1) its first loss of the season.

Morgan Franklin and Addie Harris each had RBIs for the Lady Raiders.


North splits at home

Maddie Bryant had 15 kills as the Lady Raiders split non-area matches Tuesday night at home.

North (1-1) defeated Woodstock (25-14, 29-27) and lost to North Gwinnett (25-22, 25-19), who was the Class AAAAAA runner-up last season.

Pinecrest gets swept

GAINESVILLE – Adeline Seiferth had nine kills but it wasn’t enough as the Lady Paladins dropped a pair of non-area matches Tuesday.

Pinecrest lost to West Hall (25-17, 25-22) and Habersham Central (10-25, 25-14, 25-16).

Against West Hall, Pinecrest got strong contributions from Caroline Clark (three kills), Josie Sorohan (nine digs), Annie Reilly (four aces) and Tessa Stubbs (three blocks).

Against Habersham, the Lady Paladins were led by Seiferth (five kills, nine digs, four aces), Reilly (six kills) and Vanessa Fowler (four aces).
