Trevor Shipes could not be stopped.
The Lambert senior forward had 21 points and 20 rebounds to lead the Longhorns to a 69-60 boys basketball victory Friday night at Johns Creek in a Region 6-AAAAAA game.
Lambert improved to 4-2 overall and a region-best 4-0. Johns Creek fell to 4-4 and 2-2.
Logan Bush added 17 points, while Joe Bates scored 13 points.
West Forsyth 39, South Forsyth 36: The Wolverines held on for a Region 6-AAAAAA win at home.
Up by as much as 10, the War Eagles attempted a comeback as West struggled to make free throws, missing five straight at one point.
But the Wolverines held on improve to 4-5 overall and 2-2 in the region. South fell to 1-6 and 1-3.
"Our defense and a patient offense led to the win," West coach Jim Cook said.
Logan Miller led the Wolverines with 15 points, while Derek Morris had seven points and 10 rebounds.
Pinecrest 63, AIS 50: The Paladins got balanced scoring for a Region 8-A win on the road.
Nick Palmer had a team-high 18 points to go along with six rebounds for the Paladins.
Sean Flanigan had 13 points and four steals, Zayne Rice had 12 points and Michael Bruckner played through foul trouble to contribute six points and 11 rebounds.
Pinecrest returns to action Dec. 20 against Fellowship Christian at home.
North Forsyth 38, Alpharetta 35: The Lady Raiders held on for a Region 6-AAAAAA win on the road.
North improved to 10-0 overall and 4-0 in the region. Alpharetta fell to 2-5 and 1-3.
The Lady Raiders led by as many as 13 points in the third quarter and took a 35-23 lead into the fourth quarter. North then went cold. Alpharetta went on a 12-1 run to cut the Lady Raiders’ lead down to 36-35. Lochlain Corliss made two free throws, and North forced a turnover to seal the win.
Avery Scarbrough led North with 15 points, while Caroline Bowns added 12 points. Corliss had nine points and six steals.
The Lady Raiders return to action Dec. 26 at the Pickens County Classic.
Lambert 54, Johns Creek 46: Ellie Hammer would not let the Lady Longhorns lose a Region 6-AAAAAA game on the road.
Hammer had a game-high 26 points, including six 3-pointers. Kelsey Morkem added 10 points.
Lambert improved to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in the region. Johns Creek fell to 1-6 and 0-4.
