PREP ROUNDUP: South Forsyth softball sweeps doubleheader against Gwinnett teams

SOFTBALL

North Forsyth 3, Northview 2

JOHNS CREEK – Bella Caracciolo went 2-for-4 with a triple, home run and two RBI as the Lady Raiders got a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Tuesday on the road.

Sara King got the win for North (15-5, 9-3), allowing six hits and two runs (one earned) over seven complete innings while striking out four.

Ansley Payne went 1-for-3 with a double while Haley Simpson added a hit and a stolen base.

South Forsyth sweeps doubleheader

LAWRENCEVILLE – Emily Harris went 3-for-8 with four RBIs as the Lady War Eagles got non-region victories against Mountain View (17-2) and Collin Hills (4-2) on Wednesday on the road.

Katherine Huey got the win in both games for South (13-2, 10-0), while also adding a double, home run and five RBI at the plate.

Sofia Tapia had a double, triple and three RBI during the doubleheader. Bianca Mora had a double, home run and two RBI in the nightcap against Collins Hill.

West Forsyth 12, Centennial 3

ROSWELL – Carlie Behan went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI as the Lady Wolverines cruised to a Region 6-AAAAAA victory Tuesday on the road.

Hannah Guthrie got the win on the mound for West (13-6, 9-3) and struck out eight.

The Lady Wolverines also got strong games from Chelsea Coussan (2-for-4, RBI) and Ashley Silvers (2-for-4, R).

VOLLEYBALL

Forsyth Central splits tri-match

MARIETTA – Sarah Whittingdon had eight kills as the Lady Bulldogs defeated Kell (25-23, 25-22) and lost to Cambridge (6-25, 6-25) in Area 7-AAAAA, Div. B matches Tuesday on the road.

Julia Jasion and Emma Gore had five kills each for Central (11-14, 2-2).

Morgan Leffers led the Lady Bulldogs with 14 assists, while Amber Walsh had a team-high 23 digs.

West Forsyth sweeps tri-match

ROSWELL – Taylor Ashcraft had 21 kills and 10 digs as the Lady Wolverines swept an Area 6-AAAAAA tri-match against Centennial (25-22, 25-23) and Habersham Central (25-12, 25-13) on Tuesday on the road.

Rachel Hart led West with 38 assists in place or regular starting setter Jordan Leitch. Hart added seven digs and four aces.

Hannah Owens had 13 kills and six digs, Abbey Riggins had a team-best 16 digs plus three aces and Caroline Frye added three kills and seven aces.

Other scores: Gainesville 2, Pinecrest Academy 1 (18-15, 25-22, 18-25); Lanier 2, Pinecrest Academy 1 (23-25, 25-23, 24-26).
