Cane Creek Farm has opened a new community garden for the 2019 season.
The local farm, located at 5110 Jekyll Road in Cumming, is renting half plots (50 feet by 30 inches) for $60 and full plots (100 feet by 30 inches) for $100. In addition to the plot, gardeners have access to the farm’s tools, resources and events.
Gardeners are expected to provide their own seed, transplants and soil amendments and are asked to plant and tend 10 percent of their space for food to be donated; seed and transplants for the donation space will be provided.
Applications are available at the farm’s website.
“Providing a community garden space is a way to live our passion of encouraging others to create a more sustainable lifestyle for themselves, their families and their communities,” said Lynn Pugh, a former science teacher in the Forsyth County Schools system who has owned and operated Cane Creek Farm since 2001. “Gardening and growing food brings communities together.”
