Stick a Fork in Cancer

American Cancer Society

Stop by Pizzeria Azzurri for lunch or dinner to help raise money for the American Cancer Society through Making Strides.  With your support, 10% of the daily sales will go back to the ACS. Carry out and delivery is also included.

The American Cancer Society is doing some amazing things through research including: 

  • Amazing breakthroughs are within our reach, like personalized symptom management based on your DNA.
  • Capturing DNA fragments in the blood to monitor breast cancer resistance to therapy instead of painful biopsies.

Fall festival and fundraiser

Celebrate the fall season at a jam-packed festival hosted by Music Authority. Come rock the house, dance, sing and shout with some cool Music Authority bands, as well as participate in games, a raffle and eat some yummy food. Music Authority will be raising money during the event for the Any Soldier project, which offers support and assistance to members of the military. 

When: Noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16

Zombie apocalypse escape room

The clever members of the library's Teen Advisory Board have designed a fun-filled escape room that'll leave you stuck, puzzled and trying to save the world from a zombie apocalypse. Participants will work in teams to move from room to room to find the antidote to save humankind. This event is for teens grade 6 and up. 

When: 3-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16

Where: Cumming Library, 585 Dahlonega Street, Cumming

Boulder Dash 5K, 10K Race

Boulder Dash

The 2021 Boulder Dash 5K, 10K Race is almost here, so don't forget to sign up! The course winds through an active quarry, offering participants views of the working quarry face, ancient rock deposits and equipment used to process, move and manage the rock. The unique experience also finishes off with the Martin Marietta Fall Festival with vendors for racers and spectators to peruse. 

Price: $40 per person

When: 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16

Edgar Allen Poe-ms

Visit the teen area at the Cumming Library during the entire month of October to create your own poem in the famously spooky style of Edgar Allen Poe. Grab a mad-lib, fill it out and post it on the board to share with everyone. 

When: All day Sunday, Oct. 17

Date night charcuterie board workshop

Join Pine and Pigment for a collaborative workshop learning how to create the perfect charcuterie board with Peaches & Chevre. Participants will be able to make both a dinner and a dessert board. You will also have the opportunity to sample the items on the customized boards.
