Here’s how you can play poker and support special needs athletes

An upcoming poker tournament will help benefit local athletes with special needs.

On Saturday, March 14 at 7 p.m., the Forsyth County Special Texas Hold ‘em Olympics Poker Tournament will be held at Stars and Strikes in Cumming, 133 Merchants Square, with a prize pool of $2,000. Check-in for the event begins at 6 p.m.

Players are asked to make a suggested donation of $50 to enter the tournament, and additional donations will be accepted for the first two hours of the tournament.

Funds raised will go toward Special Olympics Forsyth County, which fields teams in 12 sports for the summer, fall and winter state games hosted by Special Olympics Georgia. For each sport, Special Olympics Forsyth County provides 8-10 weeks of practices and is responsible for all program costs including registration fees, uniforms and accessories.
