A driver involved in a three-car accident on Thursday died of his injuries, officials with Forsyth County Sheriff’s office said.
Per a release from FCSO, 81-year-old Louis Rivera of Cumming was pronounced dead at North Fulton Hospital after his 1992 Cadillac Fleetwood was hit while making a left-turn off Ga. 400 Exit 14.
Just before 1 p.m. on Thursday, the accident occurred as Rivera and Brian Raper of Dawsonville, who was driving a white Nissan 370Z, were making the eastbound turn onto Buford Highway (Hwy. 20) before being struck by a “2018 Dodge Ram 5500 heavy-duty truck” driven by Jacob Thompson, 28, of Lawrenceville.
According to FCSO, Thompson did not stop at the traffic light and his vehicle’s “front end impacted the driver’s side of the Cadillac. The impact caused the right rear of the Cadillac to strike the left front side of the Nissan.”
Raper was transported to Northside Hospital Forsyth for minor injuries, and Thompson was not injured.
The investigation is still ongoing, and charges are pending.
