Rescuers are searching for two people missing following a boating accident on Lake Lanier Wednesday afternoon.

Officials say two boats collided at about 5 p.m. in the Bald Ridge Creek area, just northeast of Little Ridge Park. One man was taken to North Fulton Hospital for treatment of chest pain and upper extremity injuries. Two adult female passengers on that boat received only minor injuries, according to Division Chief Jason Shivers, with the Forsyth County Fire Department.

Rescuers were unable to locate the occupants of the other boat, and have begun search operations according to Chief Shivers.

"We're beginning a sonar and drone search and have divers responding to the area now, " Shivers said.

Witnesses told rescuers that two men had been seen in the boat before the crash, so officials believe they have two victims in the water somewhere in the area.

The Corps of Engineers, the Department of Natural Resources, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, and the Forsyth County Fire Department are all currently involved in the search, and the Hall County dive team has been requested.
