A 20-year-old woman died Saturday, July 20, after an accident involving a personal watercraft on Lake Lanier, according to Hall County Deputy Coroner Kevin Wetzel.

Kaylynn Ticas, of Lawrenceville, was removed from the water by bystanders near Van Pugh Park around 2:30 p.m. and transported by Hall County Fire Services to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville, according to Capt. Zachary Brackett.

Mark McKinnon, spokesman for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, said Ticas was “riding the personal watercraft at a high rate of speed and struck the shoreline.”
