HALL COUNTY -- Three children were killed in a two-vehicle wreck that injured four others Saturday morning at Belmont Highway/Ga. 332 and Talmo Road in South Hall near the Jackson County line.

Luis Carmona, 16, Denise Ramos, 9, and Angel Huerta, 4, all of Gainesville, died in the wreck, according to a Georgia State Patrol wreck report.

Injured were Cory Williams, 36, of Jefferson; and Yazmin Zepeda, 17, Hipolita Huerta, 29, Ariel Urapo, 14, all of Gainesville.

The status of the injured wasn’t known Sunday.

However, “it is my current understanding two of those four (who were injured) have already been treated and released while the other two remain hospitalized but in stable condition,” state patrol Cpl. Nick A. Jenkins said in an email.

In the 9 a.m. wreck, a Ford pickup truck driven by Williams was traveling west on Belmont Highway when his vehicle struck a Ford Explorer driven by Zepeda as she was trying to turn left onto Belmont Highway from Talmo Road, the report states.

The Explorer overturned before coming to rest on the driver’s side facing west, Jenkins said.

Williams didn’t have any passengers in the wreck, while Zepeda had five, the report shows.

Both drivers and Huerta were taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville. Urapo was taken by an emergency helicopter to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite in Atlanta

The preliminary investigation shows Zepeda failed to yield the right of way, but no charges have been filed yet.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” Jenkins said.
