Parents wanting a night off to celebrate post-Valentine’s Day can bring their children Friday night to a local facility.
The Cumming Aquatic Center will host Parent’s Night Out from 6-10 p.m. Friday, a chance for kids to enjoy the center while parents have a few hours to themselves. The event will start with some coloring and crafts, and once everyone is there, it will be time to hit the pool.
“They will go to our instructional pool,” said Susan Alston, with the center. “We’ll play music. They can use the equipment — our five rings, our noodles — and have a blast. They do cannonball contests and pool games.”
In addition to using the pool, there will also be food and other activities.
“We do take a little break in the middle, and we have the choice between pizza or hotdogs,” Alston said. “Beyond that, it’s a full four hours of activity.”
Alston said the center holds several of the events each year and the next would be in April. In the warmer months, the events use the center’s outdoor amenities.
She said the events also let the kids use the facilities without the commitment of a camp.
“Parent’s Night Out is just fun. It’s just a one-day thing. It’s not a huge commitment,” Alston said. “You drop your kids off, let them have a great time and you can have a night out.”
Parent’s Night Out is open to those ages 5-13 and costs $18 per child. Parents must accompany their children to sign them in, indicate who is picking them up and identification must be shown when picking up kids.
An additional charge of $1 per minute will be given to those late to pick up.
Registration for the event can be completed online at cummingaquaticcenter.com or at the aquatic center. The center is at 201 Aquatic Circle, Cumming.
