The 14th annual Christmas in Cumming arts and crafts show returns Friday and Saturday.

Inside the big red (and heated) barn at the Cumming Fairgrounds, more than 100 vendors will set up holiday-decorated booths and display their work for sale.

The show is a great place to find handmade gifts in a range of prices, said Bill Watson with event organizer JRM Management Services.

“It’s become a tradition for a lot of folks,” Watson said. “They come and look for something that’s a little different, something that you just can’t find in the chain stores and the mall.”

Some of the items include homemade candies, metal yard art, Christmas decorations, scented candles and jewelry.

Forsyth County resident Nancy Horton will bring her “back porch pottery” to the show this year, offering a variety of pieces, many for less than $15.

A former visitor to the show, she started participating in it because of the convenient location.

“Even before I was in the show, I used to find some great things there, jellies and jams to the fudges to the neat jewelry,” she said.

She’s also looking forward to the spirited feel of the event.

“It’s fun because they’ve got the Christmas atmosphere going,” Horton said.

The show will also provide some family entertainment on Friday night, including hay rides, a Christmas light show, hot chocolate and s’mores by the fire. There also will be caroling performances from five county elementary schools.

Free photos with Santa are scheduled for 7 to 10 p.m. Friday and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday.
