Officials are warning those who want to celebrate independence with a backyard bang to use caution.
"The extreme dry conditions Forsyth County is experiencing can certainly increase the risks associated with fireworks, so extra caution is highly recommended," Forsyth County Fire Chief Danny Bowman said.
"This year, we are strongly advising residents not to use fireworks at home and instead leave fireworks displays to the professionals."
The fire department has already made a plan for the city of Cumming's fireworks display Thursday night.
Bowman said firefighters will be placed on fire watch within a mile of the Cumming Fairgrounds during the display and until an hour past its conclusion.
For those who do decide to have their own fireworks show, the fire department is recommending several tips.
A few among them include buying from reliable sellers, using fireworks only outdoors and lighting only one firework at a time.
