Authorities: No ID, signs of trauma on body pulled from Lake Lanier
emergency

GAINESVILLE — The body of the woman pulled from Lake Lanier on Sunday had no signs of trauma, authorities said.

“Due to the stage of decomposition that the body was in when located has made it extremely difficult for investigators to make an identification,” said Hall County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Nicole Bailes.

Fishermen reported the body about 11:30 a.m. Sunday in the area of the Dawsonville Highway bridge on the Chattahoochee River.

Bailes said the autopsy performed Tuesday is still undetermined.

“We are working alongside the medical examiner to help us in obtaining any remaining viable fingerprints and dental records,” Bailes said.

The case remains under investigation.
