EDIT: As of 3:15pm, Brookwood Road has re-opened to traffic. 

Officials say a ruptured six-inch gas main at the intersection of Brookwood Road and Vaughn Drive will likely impact students being released from Brookwood Elementary School this afternoon.  

Division Chief Jason Shivers says firefighters have asked both nearby residents and students at Brookwood Elementary to shelter in place until the leak can be stopped.  "The intersection of Brookwood Road and Vaughn Drive is completely closed, and that is the only way into that school," said Shivers.  

Officials have made reverse 911 calls to nearby residents to alert them of the situation, and are advising parents that they will not be able to drive to the school.
