NORTH FORSYTH -- Forsyth County drivers should be aware that Browns Bridge on Hwy. 369 will be closed the next two weekends for road work.
According to a video news release from the Georgia Department of Transportation, the closure will be to complete resurfacing of the road, and detours will be in effect.
“The bridge will be completely closed off to traffic the weekends of Oct. 21-24 and Oct. 28-31,” officials said in the release. “A clearly marked detour will direct traffic at the intersection of [Hwy.] 369 and [Hwy.] 53 and also at [Hwy.] 306.”
For both weekends, roads will shut down at 9 p.m. on Friday and re-open at 5 a.m. the following Monday.
“Drivers need to slow down and drive alert while learning the traffic pattern,” officials said. “The driving surface on Browns Bridge is in need of repair.”
The project is slated for completion by the end of the year.
Work on the road began on Oct. 7, when a single lane closed from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. the following day.
Another project to replace the bridge will likely be bid out next summer. The bridge has been in use since about the time of the construction of Buford Dam, which was completed in 1956.
