Amazon is hiring for 1,000 full-time jobs at its 850,000-square-foot plant in Jefferson.
The online retail giant is paying $11 to $11.50 an hour for warehouse workers at its newest leased facility on Hog Mountain Road in Jackson County, according to a Friday announcement.
The jobs represent $22.7 million to $23.9 million in payroll for the area, or about $92,000 a day for 1,000 employees.
Amazon is accepting applications now for the positions.
The “warehouse associates” will handle large items shipped through the retailer — household furniture, sports equipment, gardening tools and other goods, according to the announcement.
Statewide, Amazon already employs more than 1,500 people, including about 500 jobs at a different sorting center in the Braselton area.
