CUMMING — Easter is still a few weeks away, but shoppers will be able to hunt for deals when a new retail store opens Friday in the Merchants Square Shopping Center.

The new Bargain Hunt location — the fifth in the greater Atlanta area and the fourth opened in 2016 — will total 27,000 square feet of sales space at 129 Merchants Square.

The store will offer an assortment of brand-name apparel, bed and bath accessories, electronics, home décor, small kitchen appliances, toys and bikes, sporting goods and outdoor gear.

“We know that customers are interested in value-driven retailers,” said Don Gozzard, vice president of retail operations. “We’re one of the best at providing national products and brands at a great value, and our customer service is top-notch.”

The chain’s Best Bargains Discount Program drops prices on participating items based on how long they have been in the store.

A month after the date shown on the tag, the marked price drops by 10 percent. Then it drops an additional 10 percent every Markdown Day — the first, 10th and 20th of every month — until it reaches up to 90 percent off.

“We feel as long as we provide a service at a great value, we’ll continue to grow across the mid-South,” Gozzard said.

Bargain Hunt currently operates 43 other stores in Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabama, Indiana, Ohio and Mississippi.

According to Elizabeth Pruitt, marketing manager for the chain, the company plans to run 60 stores by the end of the year after having opened 11 in 2015.
