Some 200 brides-to-be have registered for the Ultimate Wedding Planning Showcase on Sunday at the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference Center.

Donna Jakulski, the event’s organizer, said she decided to hold the event, which is set for 1 to 4 p.m., after the center opened in the fall.

“We’ve just been waiting for the conference center to open to be able to hold something in Forsyth,” she said.

Jakulski said the local event will be a smaller version of an annual bridal expo she organizes in Atlanta.

“Sunday will be about 45 vendors and a few hundred brides,” she said.

Among the vendors will be those offering catering, beauty services and wedding decor. There will also be modeling of bridal and attendant wear, as well as tuxedos for the future grooms.

The day will also offer advice on successful planning and “do-it-yourself” tips, she said.

At 2 p.m. Susan Graham, an Atlanta area wedding and event planner, will present “Inspiration, Ideas and Innovation.”

“We’ll also be giving away a honeymoon to St. Thomas,” Jukulski said.
