CUMMING — One Cumming eatery plans to use its grand reopening Sunday as an opportunity to raise money for a good cause.

Half of the proceeds from sales between noon and 6 p.m. at El Rio Mexican Restaurant will benefit Special Olympics Forsyth County.

Tickets for the buffet are $13 for adults and $7 for children, said Annemarie Raygor with the county organization.

The restaurant is under new management, Raygor said, so Special Olympics contacted them about using the day to raise funds.

There will be tents outside with activities, music, Zumba and raffles. Special Olympics merchandise will also be on sale.

The organization holds sporting and leisure activities for children and adults with developmental and/or intellectual disabilities in the Forsyth County area throughout the year as a way to provide socialization and a healthy lifestyle.

Participants in Special Olympics will be at the restaurant throughout the day, as will volunteers.

“It will be a good opportunity for people to talk to them about getting involved,” Raygor said. “We can always use volunteers.”
