If you’re going

Anyone interested in reserving a spot for Ricardo Costales’ visit to the Cumming Belk from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday should call (770) 889-5998, Ext. 268, or stop by the store’s Lancome counter. Cost is $35, which is redeemable toward Lancome products.

Local Belk patrons will have a chance to be pampered by a celebrity makeup artist Saturday.

Ricardo Costales, one of Lancome’s top national artists, will visit the cosmetic line’s counter inside the Lakeland Plaza Belk store from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Costales is the winner of Lancome’s Golden Brush award, a top national recognition for makeup artistry. His work has appeared in publications such as Allure, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar in Espanol and Marie Claire.

Kelly Freese, the Cumming store manager, said she and her Lancome counter employees are excited to welcome Costales.

“He’s fantastic and we want to make sure the community has an opportunity to be a part of his visit,” she said.

Freese added that Costales began holding events here for about two years ago.

“We have the visits twice a year, but this year we’re adding a third visit because it’s been so popular,” she said. “Not many Belk stores get this kind of national makeup event. I think there are only three in Atlanta in total and we’re the only one that’s getting him three times this year.”

That might be due to the local store’s cosmetics success.

“We’re the No. 1 cosmetics business in the entire company and have been for the past two years,” Freese said, attributing that success to her cosmetics counter team.

“They just take great care of all the customers.”

Those wanting to take part in Saturday’s event should reserve a spot by calling (770) 889-5998, Ext. 268, or stopping by the Lancome counter.

A $35 reservation fee is required; however, it is redeemable on Lancome products. Anyone reserving a spot by Wednesday will also get an additional $10 towards products.

Nancy Allen, counter manager, said those participants will receive a skin care consultation, make-up lesson and full application from the store’s Lancome associates, all of which takes about 40 minutes.

“Then Ricardo will come by and do the finishing touches for everybody,” she said.

Freese said the events are always the perfect girls’ day out.

“All the ladies get pampered and we have champagne and mimosas, red carpets down the center aisle, and this whole place turns into nothing but Lancome for the day,” she said.
