James McCoy is calling the postponement of the chamber of commerce’s golf tournament until this week a blessing in disguise.
The 22nd Annual Chamber Membership Golf Challenge, bumped from September by heavy rain, will be held Tuesday with a few more sponsors and golfers than had signed up for the original date.
“It just gave us another month to market and promote it,” said McCoy, president and chief executive officer of the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce.
“We haven’t seen a massive increase, but shifting it did bump up our numbers.”
The tournament is among the chamber’s largest fundraisers, which aid the organization’s various programs and events to help grow business in the county.
McCoy said the event will follow the original plan.
“Everything is the exact same, just a little bit later,” he said. “We’re cautiously optimistic about the weather.”
