City Council wants to hear from residents

CUMMING — If Cumming residents are having problems with their cable TV service, the City Council is ready to tune in Tuesday night.

At 7 p.m., following its scheduled meeting, the council will accept public input about Comcast Cable and its local service.

“The [council has] received a lot of comments from different people in the common area about the lack of response as far as from Comcast on requests of different types of activates, whereas Comcast has not been responsive to those requests,” said City Administrator Gerald Blackburn.

The hearing is open to all residents of Cumming and Forsyth County, and representatives from the company are scheduled to be at the hearing.

According to Blackburn, the city has an agreement with Comcast and is more interested in fixing issues than switching to a different cable provider.

“There’s not a lot of opportunities out there,” he said. “The city wants to talk to Comcast and see if these concerns that the constituents have, if Comcast will certainly begin to address those issues.

“It’s not necessarily to throw someone out. They just want the service to be a good service.”
