For the eighth consecutive year, the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada has recognized Forsyth County for its comprehensive annual financial report.

The county’s finance department, which is managed by director Cherrita Griswold, prepared this year’s report.

Chief Financial Officer Bill Thomas credited Griswold for the effort, noting the “award reflects the hard work of the department” under her management.

“The entire finance department should be commended not only for receiving this recognition, but also for committing every day to governmental finance professionalism,” Thomas said.

The comprehensive annual financial report was judged by an impartial panel to measure standards of the program.

Award recipients were said to have demonstrated a “spirit of full disclosure” to communicate financial information.

The association, a nonprofit professional group with offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C., serves about 16,000 governmental finance professionals
