A Forsyth County-produced publication and television program have earned national recognition.

According to a news release from the county, the National Association of County Information Officers has recognized the Forsyth County Fire Department’s 2008 annual report and the county’s “Access Forsyth” television program.

The fire report received a superior award in the annual reports category, while the television program garnered a meritorious award in the audiovisual productions category.

“The county takes a great deal of pride in producing communications tools that provide timely and comprehensive information to our residents,” said Jodi Gardner, director of communications.

“We are hopeful the annual report and television program that received these awards have been a service to the public, and are certainly very proud of these recognitions.”

Prepared jointly by the Forsyth County Fire Department and Department of Communications, the annual report serves to “better acquaint readers with the [fire] department and the many important services it provides.”

Printed copies are available at the Forsyth County Public Safety Complex, staffed fire stations and the Forsyth County Administration Building.

The 2006 and 2007 fire reports also drew awards.

“Access Forsyth” is produced by the communications department. According to the news release, each episode provides an “in-depth, behind-the-scenes look into a county department” to better acquaint residents with county government.

The program airs on TV Forsyth, Comcast channel 23.
