Cumming annexes 5 acres along Sanders Road
city

CUMMING — Cumming is annexing two parcels, totaling about 5 acres, on Sanders Road near Home Depot from Forsyth County.

The city council approved the measure during its meeting Tuesday night.

One parcel is currently undeveloped while the other is the site of an office building. Both are zoned for office professional.

According to officials, the county government reportedly had no objections to the move.

Also during its brief meeting Tuesday night, the council:

* Decided to advertise for bids for an intake generator. The generator is the result of an agreement between the city and county, and is intended to allow water to be pulled from Lake Lanier in case of power loss or inclement weather.

* Rezoned 1.1 acres on Tolbert Street from institutional use to industrial. The property is vacant, but an office building for 3R Leasing, LLC is expected to be built.

* Put out for bids on repaving various city streets. The council will decide which streets will be paved and in what order after the bids come in. The matter will be revisited at a future meeting.
