CUMMING — Cumming Utilities’ customers can receive their monthly water bills via email, a new service that’s part of an effort by the department to “go green” and cut costs.

“Besides saving on mailing costs, paperless billing is also more environmentally friendly in that it cuts down on energy and other natural resources used to create traditional paper bills,” said Jon Heard, director of the department.

Heard added that needs of customers also played into the decision to create the new service.

“In today’s fast-paced society, we know it’s more convenient for many people to receive an email notification each month rather than a traditional bill in the mail,” he said.

The voluntary e-bill service still provides customers all of the same information they receive in a paper bill, including the billing and due dates and amount due.

Those who wish to add or switch to e-billing should go to the department’s website, www.cummingutilities.com, to download the e-bill enrollment form.

The form should be completed and then returned to the department at Cumming Utilities, 100 Main St., Cumming, GA  30040; fax to (770) 781-3482; or scanned and emailed to barbara@cityofcumming.net.

Customers will also need to submit a photo copy of their driver’s license along with the form.

Customers who want to keep receiving their bill in traditional paper format don’t have to take any action.
