A local restaurant will be raising money for breast cancer awareness tonight.

Norman’s Landing, on Peachtree Parkway in south Forsyth, will hold a fundraiser from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the restaurant’s bar area.

Manager Jennifer Thomas said proceeds will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization.

“We’ve got some customers that are raising money for [Komen],” Thomas said. “They’ll be doing the [3-Day Walk] and all that stuff, so they’ll be coming out and trying to raise some money.”

Thomas said this is the first time the popular eatery, which has raised more than $1 million for local charities, has held a fundraiser for this particular cause.

“We’ve got a lot of customers who are survivors and … we’ve raised $1.6 million for charities and this is just a charity that we’re trying to make people more aware of,” she said.

“Breast cancer obviously is killing a lot of people and so we just thought we would try to raise some awareness and get people in here to raise as much money as we can.”

Thomas said the event will include several raffles and a silent auction.

“I’m sure we’ll be raffling off a bunch of gift certificates, and we’ll do a 50-50 raffle … and probably a bunch of different dollar drawings,” she said. “We’ll also have a lot of food and drink specials and we’ll donate a large percentage from that evening back to the fund.”

Thomas said she’s hoping for a large turnout.

“We’d ask people to just come and please support the cause,” she said.
