Forsyth County News welcomes digital sales manager

CUMMING — The Forsyth County News has added a new member to its sales team.

Courtenay Roy began as the company’s digital sales manager on Monday, bringing an extensive background with proven success.

“The Forsyth County News’s audience continues to grow to new heights, and adding Courtenay to our staff will only accelerate that growth,” said Vince Johnson, FCN publisher.

“We’re committed to paving the pathway forward for local media throughout the nation and bringing Forsyth County the very best, both in traditional and innovative formats.”

After graduating from Notre Dame of Maryland University in 2002 with a degree in business management, Roy started her career at The Baltimore Sun.

Beginning as an intern, she rose through a series of promotions to hold several positions, including local retail advertising sales and national travel advertising sales.

Roy then took a break from sales to get her Series 66 and Series 7 certifications as a financial adviser and worked for Merrill Lynch.

She missed advertising during that time, she said, so she found her home again at The Sun as an online and digital sales specialist. She rebuilt the digital sales team to see it expand after seven months.

“It’s my passion to be working with businesses and to be personally invested in their success,” Roy said. “It’s what I enjoy doing.”

Roy led a sales team of 14 representatives and was named The Sun’s 2008 and 2009 Online Sales Leader of the Year before being promoted again in 2012 to digital sales manager.

Other awards at The Sun include 2011 Digital Sales Leader of the Year, the First Quarter 2004 STAR Award for Highest YOY% and the 2003 STAR Award for Top Production Team.

“Having someone with Courtenay’s digital background and track record available to help local businesses devise, implement and monitor marketing campaigns will prove invaluable,” said Ryan Garmon, FCN advertising director. “We are looking forward to her success-laden experience.”

She joins an online presence with ForsythNews.com that averages more than 170,000 unique visitors and 700,000 page views per month, according to Google Analytics.

Originally from Virginia Beach, Va., Roy recently moved to Georgia with husband Chris, an information technology director for Blackboard Inc., and their 6-year-old daughter, Sydney.
