FORSYTH COUNTY — Looking to shed some weight in the new year? Forsyth County wants to help.

From Jan. 15-Feb. 16, the county’s parks and recreation department is presenting the Get Fit in ’15 challenge. Sign-ups are under way, and entry to the competition is $20.15.

“[The program] is available for ages 18 and up to assist them in their fitness goals for the new year,” said Jodi Gardner, a spokeswoman for the county.

The program will start Jan. 15 with weigh-ins from noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6 p.m. at the Central, Fowler and Old Atlanta recreation centers. Weigh-outs will be held at the same times and parks Feb. 16.

“A prize will be presented to the male and female participants with the highest percentage of weight loss during the program,” Gardner said. “To be eligible for a prize, participants must be able to attend one of the weigh-ins and weigh-out sessions.”

During the program, participants will also have access to other weight-loss tools, including the use of county facilities.

“The participants will receive 15 at-home, 15-minute workouts, weekly challenges, weekly educational articles and a fit plus pass for one month that provides access to all of the fitness classes on the pass class schedule and they’ll have access during that month to the cardio and weight rooms at all the county’s three recreation centers,” Gardener said.

Registrations will be accepted at the three recreations centers from 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday, online at www.forsythco.com/parks, or by fax or mail.
