An organizer of this year’s Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce golf tournament said it was “the best yet.”

Lindsey Nelson, the chamber’s director of communications and events, said the Oct. 3 tournament at a south Forsyth golf course was a success.

“The weather was perfect, we had a great number of players join us, Windermere Golf & Country Club was fantastic, and it was just an all-around great day,” she said.

In its 24th year, the chamber’s golf tournament is one of the longest standing fundraisers in the county.

Proceeds from the event will go to programs and events aimed at attracting and expanding local business, Nelson said.

Nelson said this year’s tournament had 108 golfers, the largest turnout in several years, as well as many sponsors and volunteers.

In addition, several upcoming chamber board members attended the event, Nelson said.

The team from the event’s title sponsor, Northside Hospital-Forsyth, won the tournament.

Also, District 23 state Rep. Mark Hamilton won the longest drive contest.

“We really appreciate all the support and participation from sponsors and players,” she said. “It was a wonderful event.”
