Work has begun to rebuild a Chick-fil-A in south Forsyth County.

The franchise at 3643 Peachtree Parkway at McFinnis Ferry Road had demolition work completed on its 3,400-square-foot, 23-year-old building, according to a post on its Facebook page.

The franchise needed to rebuild to better handle the volume of business it has built up over its 23 years in that location, Chick-fil-A representatives said at a Forsyth County Board of Commissioners meeting in April 2018.

The new building will have 4,800 square feet of space, a larger kitchen, twin drive-thru lanes and other additions to improve the flow of customers in and out of the store.

The franchise is projected to re-open on May 23, weather permitting, according to a Facebook post by Miriam Troutman, whose husband, Steve, owns the store.

While the location is closed, the majority of its staff is working at other Chick-fil-As, Troutman said.
