Forsyth County's state legislators will speak to a different, if not younger, crowd Wednesday during the annual post-session update.

The Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce offers the event each year as an opportunity to hear from the local delegation on the most recent legislative session.

Cindy J. Mills, chairwoman of the chamber’s public policy development committee, decided to add a more youthful presence to this year's gathering by holding the event at North Forsyth High School.

“Nothing is being taken away from the business community at all,” Mills said. "It’s just really a way of involving the youth and ... helping them understand about citizenship and giving back to their community."

Students in advanced government classes or leadership roles will attend. They will introduce the legislators and have created a list of questions to ask.

Beth Hebert, North Forsyth principal said she is “excited for our students to meet with our state delegation and local business leaders to discuss issues that impact our community.”

“We are working to instill in our students values such as citizenship and community service,” she said.

The event will begin with breakfast and networking, during which the state representatives and senators will field direct questions.
