WEST FORSYTH — For the second year in a row, Literacy Forsyth will be offering Spanish classes for adults.
“These classes are for anybody [older than 18 and out of high school] who is interested in learning a foreign language,” said Annaliza Thomas, the organization’s executive director. “They’re taught by a certified teacher, people who have been teaching Spanish for a long time.”
Thomas said that Literacy Forsyth is holding two classes this time, one for beginners and one for those with some experience. They start next month.
“We had 15 participants [last year] and they really loved the experience and learned a lot of language,” she said. “We had both true beginners all the way to people who have taken some classes in the past.”
The classes cost $200 for eight weeks and include a book.
“They’re twice a week for two hours a class, so that comes out to be a really great deal,” Thomas said. “Usually for adults to take language classes, [it’s] really, really expensive.”
The classes are a useful tool for travelers and can also help in business.
“I would suggest this class for anyone who needs to learn Spanish quickly,” Thomas said. “Last time, we had a lot of professionals who deal with clients who are Spanish speaking.”
The classes are set for 5:45 to 7:45 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays from March 9 to May 7 at West Forsyth High School.
