For nearly a decade, Lang Signs has been lighting up Zaxby’s restaurants.

Their roles were reversed last week when the fast food company put the spotlight on the Forsyth County business as the 2010 Zaxby’s Equipment Vendor of the Year.

“We were shocked,” said Lang Signs owner Buddy Lang. “We were floored. Most of the time, Coca-Cola and Tyson and those big companies win it. They’ve always won it.

“When you beat out the Coca-Colas of the world ... it’s a pretty big deal.”

Richie Rosebush, vice president of Lang Signs, said the company has provided signs for more than half of the restaurant’s 500 locations.

Matt Anderson, with R&D Systems & Equipment and a representative for Zaxby’s Franchising, said Lang Signs was selected “as a result of their unparalleled dedication to customer service and their commitment to expedient service in the field.”

“Lang Signs brings a wealth of knowledge to internal design discussions and are always looking our for the best interest of Zaxby’s,” he said.

For more than 80 years, Lang signs has been creating signs for businesses ranging from local retailers to regional and national chains like Papa John’s Pizza and BP gas stations.

Lang said Zaxby’s is one of the company’s biggest clients, noting “we do more for Zaxby’s than we do for anyone else.”

The honor was even more special, Rosebush said, as this year’s annual conference celebrated Zaxby’s 20th anniversary.

“It was kind of a big deal when you think about all the Zaxby’s locations that are out there,” Rosebush said. “We take pride in what we do, and it’s nice to see that those long hours are rewarded.

“Hard work does pay off.”
