CUMMING — A nonprofit thrift store will hold a grand reopening Saturday.
From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Bargain Boutique will welcome shoppers with a festival-type atmosphere.
Located in Tri-County Plaza, 580 Atlanta Hwy., Bargain Boutique is operated by Whispering Hope, a Christian ministry that helps women facing unplanned pregnancies.
Jackie Batson, executive director of Whispering Hope, said Saturday’s reopening will offer plenty of family fun, including music, hot dogs, balloons, games and giveaways.
The event will also offer the community its first official look at the recently renovated shop, which will now offer more high-end shopping than some thrift stores.
“I’ve been using the term ‘upscale retail,’” Batson said. “In doing that, we want to limit the low-end of items … we want to try to improve the quality of the items that we take in and even have some local artisans bring pieces in.
“We hope when people come in that it just doesn’t look like your average thrift store. We’re truly going for the boutique feel.”
