A new residential mortgage office will hold a grand opening next week.
Brand Mortgage, a full service mortgage lender, opened its eighth Georgia location this summer in Tri-County Plaza near downtown Cumming.
But from 4-7 p.m. Nov. 8, the new office will hold an official grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony.
Rick Darlington III, area manager, said while Brand Mortgage is a subsidiary of The Brand Banking Co., it’s unique from other banks because it specializes solely in residential mortgage lending.
“We’re partly owned by Brand Bank out of Lawrenceville,” he said. “They’re a family owned bank that has been around since 1905.”
Branch manager Bruce Grant said the Brand Mortgage Cumming location will serve most of north Georgia.
“The market area … will be from north Fulton — Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Milton — north up the [Ga.] 400 corridor through all of Forsyth into Dawson and Lumpkin counties and literally up to the North Carolina line,” he said.
Grant said the office is already experiencing quite a bit of success.
“We closed our first loan out of this facility in July,” he said. “Really, as we were getting open and painting, we started closing loans.”
He also praised the office’s staff of six lending officers.
“The people that are here are all experienced mortgage bankers and have been in the business and in the market, the Forsyth and north Atlanta market, for many, many years so we have a lot of constituency here,” he said.
Grant said what separates Brand Mortgage from some other lending entities is its local focus.
“Unlike a large national bank — while we certainly have a bank who’s a partner, it’s a small, family-owned bank that offers full banking services — but Brand Mortgage is run by veteran mortgage bankers and it’s really all we do,” he said.
“Everybody in our company is not only experienced, we’re local. We’ve all grown up in this market and because of that we have localized control,” Grant said. “The people that will process the loan and underwrite it and close it, they’re all our neighbors so it gives us better control of the process.”
The Nov. 8 grand opening is open to the public, and both Grant and Darlington are hoping for a strong turnout.
“We’re excited to serve this community,” Grant said. “In today’s market, it’s nice to drive down the street and pull into our parking lot rather than having to call a 1-800 number.”
