Nominations open Monday for annual Best Of Forsyth contest
New voting, marketing options available
Best of Forsyth 2018

In Forsyth County, fall is associated with fair weather and football, but since the Forsyth County News started its annual Best Of Forsyth contest four years ago, a different sense of friendly competition is in the air each September.

The nomination period for the 2018 Best Of Forsyth readers’ choice contest kicks off on Monday, Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. on

Anyone can nominate their favorite business, school, workplace, restaurant, and more from more than 200 categories.

“This, the fourth year of Best Of Forsyth, is expected to be the biggest yet,” FCN Advertising Director Ryan Garmon said.

The contest has grown each year, setting the bar with more than 70,000 votes in 2015 before raising it to more than 140,000 votes in 2016 and again breaking its own record in 2017 with more than 230,000 votes.

New to the contest this year is the offering of a unique URL in the expanded listing as an “invaluable marketing tool,” where nominees will each receive a link to their own landing page with a “vote” button, Garmon said.

“This will be especially useful for those who like to engage their customer base via social media or email newsletters throughout the voting period,” he said.

Another new aspect is the addition of a category header ad position for local businesses to purchase on a first come, first served basis with exclusive positioning zones.

Nominations and voting will, for the second year, lead up to the Best Of banquet, where winners are named and honored at an event that brought more than 400 people to its inaugural bash last year who received the first copies of the annual Best Of magazine.
