CUMMING — Dog lovers and their faithful companions are invited to have dinner while raising money for the Humane Society of Forsyth County as the Ridge Great Steaks & Seafood will again present Pooches on the Patio this year.

Cheryl Viglione, events coordinator for the restaurant, said five Pooches on the Patio events were held in 2013, raising about $4,000 for the society.

“They were such a success last year that we will be doing them again this year,” she said. “People can have fun with their pooch while eating, cocktailing and raising money for a great cause.

“Also, it’s a great way to meet new people that have the same interest, a love of dogs.”

The first event of 2014 is set for 5 to 9 p.m. April 13, with others to follow on May 18, June 8, Aug. 10, Sept. 14 and Oct. 26.

“On April 13, we’ll have photos with the Easter Bunny, games and Georgia Dachshund [Races] is bringing their track so we’ll have races,” she said. “There will also be live music and a special menu of food and drinks.”

There is a $5 cover charge per person to attend, with 100 percent of that fee going to the Humane Society.

“We would love to have at least 200 people and their dogs at each of these events this year,” Vigilone said. “The Ridge is the only [restaurant] in Forsyth County that allows pets on the patio, so it’s a unique and fun way to raise money for a great cause.”
