Several potential Forsyth County leaders learned more about a community program that fosters those skills Thursday.

Tammi Bramblett, executive director of Leadership Forsyth, said the first of three information sessions about the program went well.

It was held at the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference Center.

“We had a good mix of people who are new to the community versus those who’ve been in the community a while,” Bramblett said.

Anyone who wasn’t able to make it to the first session has two other opportunities to learn about Leadership Forsyth.

The next will be held at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Northside Hospital-Forsyth’s Bennett Education Center, followed by a 5 p.m. March 28 session at the Forsyth County Board of Education in room 350.

The program provides leadership training through the University of North Georgia, while also giving participants in-depth information about the community.

Each year, it accepts about 30 to 35 members. They take part in monthly all-day sessions where they learn about being successful leaders and explore the history and culture of Forsyth.

In addition, each class works together on a large-scale community service project.

The selection process for the class of 2014 is under way. Those interested in nominating someone or applying, can download a form at www.leadershipforsyth.org.

A selection committee will choose the class members by the end of June and sessions will begin in the fall.
