A real estate organization has opened its annual expo to the public for the first time.

The Georgia 400 North Board of Realtors will present its fourth annual trade expo April 25 at the Lanier Technical College Forsyth Conference Center.

The event is free and everyone is invited, said Sandy Zigler, board services director.

“This year we’ve totally given the expo a new facelift, a new format and opened it up to the public,” she said.

The expo begins at 9:30 a.m., and three educational presentations will be held throughout the day.

Former New Orleans Saint’s safety Chris Reis and his father, Mike Reis, will speak from 10-10:45 a.m.

“We are very fortunate that [Mike’s wife], Celia Reis, is a realtor with Keller Williams North Atlanta, so she was able to secure them as our motivational speakers for the day,” Zigler said.

The father and son will speak about overcoming challenges.

Tina Vliet, a principle broker and owner of two real estate offices, will present a discussion from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the best mobile apps for real estate agents and others.

“We’re calling it ‘mobile apps for agents,’ but she’s doing some segments on some [apps] that will help their business, some that will help you in your personal life and then some that are security features to help the security in your social world,” Zigler said.

Michael Townsend of Charles Schwab & Co. will discuss public policy from 1:15-2 p.m.

“He’ll be presenting on legislative issues and kind of what’s going on in the economy overall,” Zigler said.

Additionally, the expo will feature about 40 business vendors.

“We don’t allow real estate companies to participate [as vendors], so these are all industry partners that want to get in front of Realtors as well as homeowners,” Zigler said.

Vendors range from banks and attorneys to pest control groups and movers, among others.

Lunch will be provided at no charge from several Forsyth area restaurants sponsoring the event.

Zigler said she’s hoping for a large turnout.

“People can come and go as they please, or they can stay all day,” she said. “We’ll be doing cash drawings all throughout the day as well as from 2:15-3 p.m. We’ll be going booth to booth asking the vendors for their door prize drawings.

“We would encourage everyone to attend.”
