The fifth annual Purple Palooza event is set for Saturday at Home Depot in Cumming.
Presented by Medica Forsyth Imaging Center, the event began as a way to give back to the community, said organizer Cathy Cathey. And every year, the event gets bigger.
“I’m going to have a second stage this year,” she said. “And there will be a lot of free screenings done and a lot of giveaways.”
The event is a mix of medical and family activities, Cathey said. For children, there will be face painting, inflatables, an obstacle course and pony rides, among other activities.
There also will be a jazz group, singer, DJ and the Forsyth Central High School drum line for entertainment, as well as craft vendors, food and a cake walk.
“There are just a lot of fun things to do,” she said.
Last year, more than 600 people attended, but Cathey’s expecting a larger turnout this year.
Attendees can get a cholesterol screening, flu shots, posture checks and a massage while meeting local health service providers.
All proceeds from the event will go to the Be the Match Foundation, a blood donor program.
